Lab cat =)
Greetings from your ‘lab cat’! =) Today, it’s my 5th month working in the university. And I recently started doing independent experiments…
Looking back, I realize how much I’ve learned so far. In my first day as a lab member, I didn’t even know how to use a pipettor. Everything was new, everything was unknown… Every new minute was a challenge. There have been times in which I wanted to sit on the floor and cry.. Just there, in the middle of the lab…
I made a lot of mistakes, from lancing agarose gels while loading samples to dropping a tip into the sterile water bottle, and they are all very precious for one reason: They taught me how to do things the right way.
The one mistake I didn’t make is giving up. And I’m very proud of the fact that I HELD ON. I learned a new piece of knowledge every time I held on… And as days passed by, my knowledge started to grow bigger. Though there will always be much more unknown than known, I became confident. My hands don’t shake anymore. I know I can make it!
I also thank my labmates Anıl, Mert, Erhan, Süleyman and Elif. If they wouldn’t be patient enough to explain even the tiniest details, I would probably drop dead =P
Of course I continue learning new things. Today I accidentally frozen my gloves. Fact: Do not ever try to fish competent cells out of liquid nitrogen with hands again, especially if your hands got sweaty..
As finally everything started to fall into their places, I decided to update this blog regularly. This means you will hear from me a lot
Hugs and love to you all,
xxx
